Need help with MnmlDB? We’re happy to help. MnmlDB is a sound level meter for iPhone developed by Systhetics Collective. It uses your device’s microphone to measure sound levels in real time.
Not Getting a Sound Reading?
Make sure MnmlDB has permission to access your microphone.
On iPhone, open:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
and make sure microphone access is enabled for MnmlDB.
For the best results:
• Make sure the microphone is not covered or obstructed
• Avoid holding the microphone directly against a sound source
• Keep the device in a consistent position when comparing measurements
• Use calibration if you are comparing MnmlDB with a reference meter
Calibration
MnmlDB includes a calibration offset that allows you to adjust displayed readings.
If you have access to a reference sound level meter, place both devices in the same position and environment, then adjust the calibration offset until the readings align as closely as possible.
Different iPhone models and microphones may produce slightly different measurements.
Frequency Weighting
MnmlDB supports A, C, and Z frequency weighting.
A Weighting is commonly used for general environmental and everyday sound measurements.
C Weighting gives greater emphasis to low-frequency sound and can be useful when measuring louder or bass-heavy environments.
Z Weighting provides an approximately flat frequency response without A or C weighting.
You can change the active frequency weighting directly within MnmlDB.
Time Weighting
MnmlDB supports Fast and Slow time weighting.
Fast responds more quickly to changing sound levels.
Slow smooths short-term changes and provides a steadier reading.
Choose the setting that best suits the sound you are measuring.
Saved Sessions
MnmlDB can save completed measurement sessions so you can review them later.
Saved sessions may include the measurement graph, duration, minimum and maximum levels, Leq, and peak measurements.
Saved sessions are stored locally on your device.
Reports and CSV Export
MnmlDB allows you to export measurement reports and CSV data from saved sessions.
If an export does not appear to work, make sure the measurement session contains data and try exporting again.
The destination and handling of exported files are controlled through iOS and the apps or services you choose when sharing them.
Understanding Measurement Accuracy
MnmlDB uses the built-in microphone in your iPhone.
While the app can provide useful sound level measurements, readings may vary depending on the device, microphone characteristics, calibration, environment, and position of the phone.
MnmlDB should not be used as a replacement for a certified or professionally calibrated sound level meter when regulatory, occupational, legal, or other formally certified measurements are required.
Purchases
Purchases made through MnmlDB are processed by Apple through the App Store.
If you previously purchased MnmlDB Pro and it is not appearing correctly, use the Restore Purchases option in the app.
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account originally used for the purchase.
Privacy
MnmlDB does not collect personal data.
Microphone audio used for sound level measurement is processed directly on your device and is not recorded, uploaded, or stored by Systhetics Collective.
Saved measurement sessions remain on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
