This policy document defines the operational scope and legal responsibilities associated with the Lilo Lo-Fi Radio Player.
1. Nature of the Service and Technical Architecture
Lilo Lofi Radio Player (“Lilo,” “the App”) functions strictly as a client-side player and technical aggregator for public internet radio stations. Lilo does not host, re-broadcast, store, cache, or digitally distribute any audio content on its servers.
- Source of Data: Lilo utilizes the open-source API provided by radio-browser.info, a community-driven public domain directory of validated, publicly accessible internet radio station URLs.
- Direct Connection: When a user selects a station, Lilo establishes a direct connection (a “pass-through”) between the user’s device and the broadcaster’s public streaming server. No audio traffic is ever routed through Lilo’s servers.
2. Licensing and Liability
As a technical aggregator and directory service, Lilo does not hold any domestic or international broadcasting licenses for the music played by the individual stations it indexes.
- Responsibility: The legal responsibility for securing and maintaining all associated licensing (including public performance rights and royalty payments to Performance Rights Organizations – PROs) rests solely and exclusively with the individual broadcasters/stations who own and operate the streaming URLs.
- Facilitation of Direct Contact: Lilo acts merely as a search engine or directory browser. To facilitate transparency and accountability, the App provides the station’s direct website link within the “Station Information” screen, enabling users or rights holders to communicate directly with the party responsible for the audio programming.
3. Dynamic Availability & Content Aggregation
Lilo operates as a dynamic service reflecting the real-time status of the public directory. The App does not maintain a fixed or static catalog of content.
- Real-Time Retrieval: While the user interface presents fixed station slots (to emulate a retro radio experience), the content filling these slots is retrieved dynamically via API queries to the radio-browser.info API, based on metadata tags (e.g., “Lo-Fi”).
- Broadcaster Control: The availability of a stream is determined entirely by the broadcaster. If a station ceases public transmission or removes their public link from the directory, the stream immediately becomes inaccessible within the App.
4. Visual Content (Giphy API, Tenor API)
Visual animations displayed within the App are retrieved via the Giphy and Tenor public APIs in real-time.
- Lilo does not claim ownership of these visuals.
- All visuals are displayed with clear attribution links to their respective source pages on Giphy or Tenor, in strict compliance with their API Terms of Service.
5. DMCA Compliance and Takedown Procedure
Systhetics (The Developer of Lilo) respects the intellectual property rights of all content owners. We comply with DMCA safe harbor principles.
If you believe your copyrighted work is being infringed by a station accessible through Lilo, or if you are a broadcaster who wishes to be removed from our directory, please contact us immediately using the information below:
Designated Agent for Notice of Claims:
Email: [email protected]
Procedure: Upon receipt of a valid and actionable DMCA takedown notice or a direct removal request from an authorized station owner, Systhetics will immediately and permanently block the specific streaming URL from being accessed via the Lilo app interface.
